Newfoundland gets some great Northern Lights, though when they appear is probably a lot less predictable than further north. Perhaps the best I've ever seen was from a plane on my way to England, years ago. We diverted North to catch a tailwind and ended up flying over Greenland. The waves of colour went for hours.
